The sides of the painting are finished in black to allow the painting to be displayed without a frame. This is a fabulous painting with an almost Van Gogh "Starry Night" feel to the background with all the wonderful palette knife strokes Maya used to create the sky. The Bark on the trees is masterfully applied creating the effect that the bark is peeling as it does in nature.
